  I use fine woods, antler, horn and micarta materials in these grips or combinations thereof.  Many of the wood and antler offerings are stabilized resulting in a more durable grip that is impervious to the elements and most gun solvents.  Stabilizing is a costly process where polymer resins are injected under pressure into the grips materials.  They are then baked to harden the polymer.  This process also greatly enhances the grain patterns of wood.
